The National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) to determine eligibility for lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals in order to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in the teaching profession and research. The Test is conducted in Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Forensic Science, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science and Applications and Electronic Science.

 

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) conducts the UGC-CSIR NET for other Science subjects, namely, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Earth Atmospheric Ocean & Planetary Sciences jointly with the UGC. The tests are conducted twice in a year generally in the months of June and December. For candidates who desire to pursue research, the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) is available for five years subject to fulfillment of certain conditions. UGC has allocated a number of fellowships to the universities for the candidates who qualify the test for JRF. The JRFs are awarded to the meritorious candidates from among the candidates qualifiying for eligibility for lectureship in the NET. JRFs are available only to the candidates who opt for it in their application forms.

 

The test for Junior Research Fellowship is being conducted since 1984. The Government of India, through its notification dated 22nd July, 1988 entrusted the task of conducting the eligibility test for lectureship to UGC. Consequently, UGC conducted the first National Eligibility Test, common to both eligibility for Lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship in two parts, that is, in December 1989 and in March , 1990. 

Teen country star Taylor Swift got Pregnancy….!

With a new album dropping next week and being in the spotlight for quite awhile now, it’s only right that the ‘Taylor Swift Pregnant’ rumors start to fly.

Taylor, 18, was on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS FM radio show on Wednesday for an interview where she finally admitted to dating and being dumped-by Jonas Brother Joe Jonas, ending months of speculation.

So where these pregnancy rumors are coming from, I’m not sure…But I find it very hard to believe..

After selling more than 3 million copies of her 2006 debut album, “Taylor Swift,” the young country goddess is gearing up for another onslaught of activity with the impending arrival of her sophomore album, “Fearless,” due out Nov. 11.

Be sure to tune in to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Tuesday, November 11th 2008 when Taylor Swift is a guest and will be performing her song, “Love Story”.  Ellen also throws an official album release party for her.

But Teen country star Taylor Swift confirmed rumors Monday that she is pregnant. Her publicist issued this statement: “Yes, Miss Swift is three months pregnant. She is overjoyed and asks for privacy at this time.”

Swift is just one of the numerous Hollywood pregnancies. Teen star Jamie Lynn Spears, who at 16, announced her pregnancy adding fuel to her already tabloid-filled life. Other pregnant stars include Jessica Alba, Angelina Jolie, and Nicole Kidman. This will be the first child for the 18 year old.

Taylor is trying her best to keep this news private but many leaks have been made. A source close to the star claims “Taylor is really worried about the baby and wants to make sure everything is alright before making an official announcement.” The father is unknown at this time.

No statement has been made regarding her upcoming CD.  Taylor Swift is most known for her 2007 hit “Tear Drops on my Guitar.”

Large Hadron Collider ‘may destroy universe’, say stupid people

A growing number of stupid people are becoming nervous about the imminent opening of the Large Hadron Collider at Geneva, claiming that the world’s largest particle accelerator may ‘create or big black hole that will suck us all in or mess up our DNA or something’.

The LHC which is funded and built in collaboration with over two thousand physicists from thirty-four countries will be switched on in August. It will collide opposing beams of 7 TeV protons, revealing hitherto unknown information about what the world is made of, potentially including the existence of the so-called ‘God Particle’, the Higgs boson.

‘That’s all very well…’ said one leading stupid person. ‘But I don’t like the sound of it… What if, like matter meets anti-matter and stuff, and we all flip over into an alternative dimension like in that film?’ Walter Wagner is now leading a coalition of stupid people opposed to the opening of the LHC, gathered from radio phone-ins and letters to the local newspaper. ‘I’ve heard that it could create a time vacuum, creating nuclear fission in the protein particles of our lymph nodes. Or something…’ asserted Wagner, who does not own a mobile phone in case its cancer rays give him brain AIDS.’

His Stupid Alliance has now filed a lawsuit against the scientists behind the LHC, claiming that they are about to unleash a micro-black hole, or a wave of dangerous particles called ‘strangelets’, or maybe a resonance cascade or a reality bomb, or some other overblown sciencey-sounding doomsday scenario that he’s read about on the internet or seen in a film or whatever.’

Lyn Evans of CERN has dismissed his fears as impossible, and the consensus of all credible scientists is that the collider poses no threat to mankind. Wagner, however, insists that they are all wrong, and that he knows more than them about science because he saw every episode of Star Trek up to 2003, when he learned that his television had something called a ‘cathode ray tube’ inside it, and immediately ripped out the plug and now refuses to go near it.
