Those of you owning an ipod or iphone sure must have tried their hands on the iTines applications for music transfer.Yes!Like you all, even we got our hands on the iTunes and thought it could be worthwhile to review it and take a look at it from a technical
aspect. So here’s presenting a review of the iTunes 8 (Software Version 1.1.8 ) application.

Apple has been known to provide crisp products that in pride about their stylish and chic looks. Now here we are speakingof a software application, yet the company manages to present their style and charm through the software platform. Starting off with the
review, the application is surely easy to install but one might need a tutorial on how to use it.

Just connect your iPod to the computer and the iTunes application will start off automatically on the computer. Import music on to the music libraries and synchronizing becomes an easier task with a click of a button. Segregate the files on the basis of music, videos,TV shows and Podcasts.

The new iPod Nano features are, improved battery life, “24 hours for music, 4 hours for video” and the ability to create Genius playlists automatically. You can get more info about iPod nano from here

Another notable new feature is the iTunes Genius. At first, I had some apprehension about the Genius. My dislike for the feature stems from when I was watching the Let’s Rock Keynote stream, and saw the demo during the Stevenote. When he was demonstrating the feature, he created a Genius playlist using a song by Elvis Presley. Later on in the playlist, I noticed a song by The Doors. Huh? If I was ever in an Elvis mood, I highly doubt I would want to be hearing the Doors. Also, when creating my own Genius playlists, I encountered two such situations. The first was when I made a playlist using ”Being Bad Feels Pretty Good” by Does it Offend You, Yeah?.  Some of the songs that came up included ”Icky Thump” by The White Stripes and ”Karma Police” by Radiohead. In another situation, I made a playlist from ”Hard to Beat” by Hard-Fi.  This selection came up with the likes of ”Dirty Harry” by The Gorillaz, ”Hoppipola” by Sigur Ros, and ”Great DJ” by The Ting Tings. Now, I am not saying I don’t like that music (I have it in my library, don’t I?), but rather that I don’t want to listen to that music at that moment. I think that the Genius feature is a great idea, but it won’t be seeing any use by me. It may be intuitive, but it’s not quite intuitive enough for me to hand it over full reign of my music.

The first thing you notice when you start up iTunes 8 is the new view option. I’m not sure what it’s called, but all your album’s are organized in rows and columns like your iPhoto photos.

I thought they got rid of previous way we could browse through our movies and TV shows, but after fiddling around, I found that they added that same view to the rest of your library.

The final notable new feature is the addition of a new iTunes visualizer. The rumors were confirmed when iTunes 8 was released, and users were greeted with the redesigned version of Magnetosphere.

In its eighth iteration, ITunes remains solid.Overall, iTunes 8 is a great app. Some things could use some touch-ups and refining, but other than that, iTunes 8 plays your music better than ever before.

The new iTunes (version 8.0) is here.  Download here (Apple Website.)
