Rahul Mahajan is out of Big Boss

rahulmahajan1

Rahul Mahajan has been evicted from Bigg Boss after he refused to tender an apology for an incident that occured on Saturday when he broke out of the house with the remaining housemates, Raja Chaudhury, Zulfi Sayed and Ashutosh Kaushik.

“After the crew stopped the housemates from going out of the house, Bigg Boss demanded an apology from all of them as it is against the rules to break out of the house. The other three apologised but Rahul refused to do so. That’s why he was evicted from the house,” says a source.

Eyewitness said that Rahul’s sister, Poonam Mahajan landed in Lonavala — where the Bigg Boss house is located — to take her brother back to Mumbai. But sources also say that he has to stay back to complete his shoot with the show’s host Shilpa Shetty

Endemol’s Managing Director (India) Deepak Dhar was unavailable for comment despite several attempts. Endemol sources refused to confirm or deny Rahul Mahajan’s eviction.

Rahul, on his part, asked to be evicted with whatever amount he deserved to get for 90 days, saying he didn’t feel like staying on any longer.

And Rakhi Vijayan, who was voted out of the show on Saturday, was seen playing a strange mix of a trouble-maker and trouble-shooter between Rahul and Monica.

The actress, best known for playing Sweety in comedy serial Hum Paanch, went to the Bigg Boss house after a troubled marriage with Raveena Tandon’s brother Rajiv.

Rahul too is on the show after his marriage to long-time sweetheart Shweta ended.

To compound the strangeness of the situation is Payal, who has been seriously linked to Rahul after his break-up. So who scripted this bizarre quadrangle? Destiny or the Bigg Boss spin-doctors?

One wonders how the Rahul-Payal real-life pair were thrown together in the seclusion of the game show house. A question that one of the contestants – comedian Ehsaan Qureshi – brought up not so gently on live camera.

He also accused Rahul of stealing into the girls’ chamber in the middle of the night after wrenching off his microphone – something that is strictly against the Bigg Boss rules.
Even Monica, former companion of gangster Abu Salem, has been repeatedly reprimanded by Big Boss for doing away with the mandatory mike.

Said an industry source: “There’s definitely more to the Mahajan-Monica-Payal-Rakhi quartet at Bigg Boss than meets the eye.”

The question is whom is Rahul Mahajan interested in – Payal Rohatgi or Monica Bedi? On the Bigg Boss cameras he seems to be completely ignoring Payal and lavishing interest on Monica.

In fact, Rakhi was heard scolding Rahul last week for “freaking” Monica out by flirting with her. To this Rahul replied that he was only indulging in some “time pass”.

Mahajan’s constant attention to Monica could be a ruse to throw spectators off the Payal trail. But it could be a very dangerous ruse.

The source added: “If Rahul is just flirting for time-pass then he’s playing with fire. Neither the government agencies nor Abu Salem will like what Rahul is doing with Monica. And if Monica is in Bigg Boss to whitewash her image, then she isn’t going about it the right away by crying constantly and making herself out to be a babe lost in the woods who doesn’t know how to deal with Rahul’s attentions.”

Voting is the ‘new cool’ for the Delhi youth

Delhi’s new fashion statement is an upright index finger, the fingernail smeared with ink. To be truly hip, all young people above 18 must proudly wear this ink on the last Saturday of this month.

To bring the apathetic youth into polling booths during the Delhi Assembly polls on November 29, the Election Commission is speaking to the young through the chartbuster Pappu can’t dance saala. In jingles aired on FM, the song’s lyrics have been tweaked to tell listeners how Pappu – sometimes a cool dude, sometimes a hot chick – scores on all counts barring one: “Pappu doesn’t vote ha ha”.

Parties are drawing up their own strategies. Sheila Dikshit will, according to officer on special duty Pawan Khera, prefer to have actual conversations with the youth as opposed to a one-sided speech.

The CM has met students and faculty at JNU and plans to visit DU. Congress will start a blog to catch the Net-addicted generation. Videos, including one of Sonia Gandhi at a kisan rally, are on YouTube.

The party has bumped up the number of tickets for Youth Congress members, too – from the usual two or so, this time it’s nine. Vijay Kumar Malhotra of the BJP has planned an Internet-oriented campaign.

Sources close to him add that Malhotra has created an IT cell to tap networking sites like Orkut, Facebook and Blogger. Also, you may find BJP activists in slogan tees jogging along with you.

The youth have started paying attention. Orkut now has over 1,000 communities on youth on politics, a sign that the new-age campaign is working.

Adobe soups up Photoshop with Pixel Bender

pixel_bender_612x446

Pixel Bender enables a new range of effects sped by a PC’s graphics chip.

Adobe Systems on Monday launched a technology called Pixel Bender that brings new effects to Photoshop–and some new work for computers’ often-idle graphics chips.

Pixel Bender, presently an Adobe Labs project, is a new engine for enabling many image transformations. Examples include a kaleidoscopic hall-of-mirrors effect, a twirled distortion effect, a fisheye lens effect, and a ray-tracing effect. Some effects are available at the Pixel Bender Exchange.

Photoshop already has a plug-in architecture for many special effects, but Pixel Bender is designed to be easier on programmers creating effects and faster to show them. The acceleration comes through support not just of multicore processors, but also of the graphics processors that Photoshop CS4 now can exploit.

Last night, Adobe posted the new version 1.1 of the Pixel Bender Toolkit for those who want to create their own effects. Photoshop Senior Product Manager John Nack announced availability of the Photoshop CS4 Pixel Bender plug-in on his blog Monday.

But Pixel Bender isn’t just for the version of Photoshop that runs on PCs. On Monday, Adobe Chief Technology Officer Kevin Lynch demonstrated the technology running on Photoshop.com, the company’s online photo-editing site.

“This is under development and will appear in a future update,” Adobe spokeswoman Cari Gushiken said of the Photoshop.com.

This abstract pattern shows an image hosted at Photoshop.com altered by two Pixel Bender filters, one for creating a halftone dot pattern and one for the tunnel effect. Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch demonstrated the technology at the Max conference.

Google ‘Voice Search’ hands-on verdict: Awesome

The new voice-activated Google Mobile app for the iPhone is finally here. Whatever the reason for the delay, it was worth the wait. The search app knows when you bring the phone to your face to speak into it. It beeps, you talk, and it executes a Google search on what you said. (If you’re using a headset, you have to press a button. You can type in your queries, too, if you want.)

It is freakishly accurate. It’s not perfect, but it’s extremely good. Good enough to be used frequently, I’d say, although this review is based on only 15 minutes of experimentation.

I searched for names of people I knew, businesses nearby, airline information, and other miscellaneous data. The service bungled one nearby restaurant, but got everything else right. It uses the phone’s location data to narrow down results. Try searching for “sushi” and you’ll get your closest sushi restaurants at the top of your search results.

The Google Mobile app gives you its answers in text, which makes for a very quick experience. If your result returns phone numbers, you can dial the phone by clicking on one. But if you’re driving in your car and need a quick connection, use Goog411 instead, which is a full voice-in, voice-out experience.

As others have noted, Google Mobile doesn’t let you do voice dialing from your own contact list. It’s frustrating to be able to search the entire Web with your voice but not be able to search your own phone. But it’s still a useful and very cool little service.

To get the app, go to this link or visit the iTunes Application Store and search for “Google Mobile App.” As I write this, the description for the page is old, but the app you get is the new one.

if you enjoy voice recognition technology, go and visit:

they offer text-to-voice conversion and vice-versa for your text and voice mail!
